Korean Cherry Blossoms: 7 Perfect Places to See Them in Seoul

Spring in South Korea is pure magic, and it’s not only because you are so thankful it has arrived after a long and cold winter. When temps start to warm up, soft pink and white petals blanket parks, rivers, and historic palaces. Travelers from around the world plan entire trips around Korean Cherry Blossoms, and for good reason—the experience is breathtaking, romantic, and incredibly photogenic.

In and around Seoul, cherry blossoms usually bloom from late March through early April, though exact timing can vary slightly each year depending on the weather. The best strategy is to plan several viewing spots during your trip so you can enjoy the blossoms from multiple perspectives—riverside walks, historic palaces, city parks, and scenic lakes.

Since this is our third year in Seoul, we have been able to see these beautiful blooms in many different locations are here are my seven favorite places to view the Korean Cherry Blossoms around Seoul. Along with nearby cafés and other unique destinations to explore while you’re in the area.

1. Yeouido Hangang Park

Yeouido Hangang Park is one of the most famous places in Korea to see cherry blossoms. The park hosts the popular Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival each year, attracting thousands of visitors.

Best viewing dates: Late March – early April

Nearly 1,800 cherry trees line the streets surrounding the National Assembly building, forming long pink tunnels that feel straight out of a movie.

Travelers love this area because it blends nature with the city skyline. You can rent bikes along the Han River, have a picnic with Korean street food, or take a sunset stroll under the blossoms.

Nearby café stop:
Visit Fritz Coffee Company for expertly roasted coffee and pastries. It’s a cozy break after walking along the river.

Extra experience:
Take a Han River Sunset Cruise to see the cherry blossoms and city skyline from the water.


2. Seokchon Lake

One of the most photogenic places to experience Korean Cherry Blossoms is Seokchon Lake.

Best viewing dates: Early April

This scenic lake sits right next to Lotte World Tower, the tallest building in Korea. The contrast between delicate blossoms and the modern skyline makes it a favorite photography spot. A full walking path circles the lake, lined with cherry trees that reflect beautifully in the water.

Check out Knotted Donut for colorful donuts and fun pastel interiors that match the spring vibe perfectly.

Extra experience:
Head up to the Seoul Sky Observatory in Lotte World Tower for panoramic views of the blossoms surrounding the lake.


3. Namsan Park & N Seoul Tower

For a mix of nature and iconic views, visit Namsan Park.

Best viewing dates: Early April

Cherry trees line the roads and hiking trails leading up to N Seoul Tower. Walking up through the blossoms feels like stepping into a dreamy spring landscape. Many travelers enjoy the scenic cable car ride to the top for a spectacular aerial view of the city and blooming trees.

Nearby café stop:
Stop at Cafe Onion Anguk before or after your visit for trendy pastries and rustic interiors that are extremely popular on Instagram.

Extra experience:
Ride the cable car up and write a love message on a lock at N Seoul Tower, a popular and romantic tradition.


4. Gyeongbokgung Palace

Cherry blossoms and traditional architecture create one of the most beautiful combinations in Korea at Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Best viewing dates: Late March – early April

The palace grounds feature cherry trees framing historic buildings, courtyards, and ponds from the Joseon Dynasty. Seeing blossoms against the elegant Korean architecture feels like stepping into another era.

Traveler tip:
Rent a hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) nearby and enter the palace for free while taking stunning photos among the blossoms.

Visit Osulloc Tea House Bukchon for green tea desserts and matcha drinks after exploring the palace.

5. Seoul Forest

Seoul Forest offers a more relaxed and local cherry blossom experience.

Best viewing dates: Early April

This large urban park feels similar to Central Park in New York, with open lawns, art sculptures, and wooded walking paths. Cherry trees bloom throughout the park, making it ideal for a slower, quieter blossom viewing experience.

Stop by Center Coffee, a favorite among coffee lovers known for award-winning baristas.

Extra experience:

6. Kyung Hee University

For a hidden gem location, visit Kyung Hee University.

Best viewing dates: Early April

The university campus features Gothic-style architecture surrounded by rows of cherry trees, creating a surprisingly European atmosphere in the middle of Seoul.

Travelers often overlook this spot, which means you can enjoy the blossoms with fewer crowds.

Typical bloom periods around Seoul:

  • Early April: Peak bloom across most of Seoul

Spring is my favorite season in Seoul and it’s more than just the Korean Cherry Blossoms, it’s the wakening of this city after a long winter. If you plan your trip right, you’ll experience one of the most magical seasons in Korea—people outside enjoying warmer weather, when the entire city becomes floral obsessed.
