It isn’t exactly one year just yet, but for all intents and purposes, we are at the beginning of a new school year and back in CTG. I wrote this post last year about wondering when this place would feel like home. Well, I’m not sure I can call it home, but it is a similar version.
I wasn’t sure how I would feel flying back into Cartagena, will I be refreshed? Am I still excited about our adventures to come? Will I be sad after such a great summer visiting all our loved ones? And the answer is yes.
Yes to all of them. I think I felt more at peace this time, knowing what I was coming to. My hope for this year is a lot more adventures and hopefully a few more visitors. Just knowing we have everything we need here frees up my mind to dream up some more great experiences.

Q: Do I feel safe?
A: Yes, I do. I’m always aware that I am in a foreign country but for the most part we live a normal life and I have never felt unsafe.
Q: How are my kids doing?
A: My kids are doing great. That isn’t to say they don’t struggle sometimes because they do. I do too. That’s normal and it’s good for them.
Q: Is the charm wearing off?
A: No, if anything the charm is growing. As we get to know more people, and make better relationships, our connection and life in Cartagena continues to grow.
